Its Okay Not To Be Okay
Life is hard sometimes. Life seems unfair. Life seems impossible. How do we keep going when everything seems to fall apart? Breakups, heartbreak, loss, school, work, but life must go on despite what you’re going through.
The best advice I received recently was “It’s okay not to be okay, but it’s not okay to stay that way.” I am not okay a lot of the time. However, I am choosing to tell myself I can find happiness somewhere and turn my day around. This idea is part of my 356 Days of Happiness mission. My heart hurts every day. I also have joy every day, by focusing on the positive.
When we expect bad things to happen or expect things to fall apart, then they will. Plain and simple. It sucks, but it’s true. We have to turn our lemons into lemonade and find something to be grateful for.
I find myself saying quiet little thank you’s every once in a while when I feel one of those moments of joy. Holding on to that feeling is what’s going to get you through those tougher times that feel never-ending, and trust me they will happen.
Whenever you feel like you’re falling apart or things couldn’t get any worse, then say thank you. Say thank you because this is your chance to turn it around and make that negative into positive, so next time you know exactly how to handle it.
It is okay to have a meltdown and fall apart, for a few minutes, but it’s not okay to stay that way. Pick yourself up, get out there and take back your life. No one’s going to do it for you, so find even the smallest piece of joy, hold on to it and make it happen.
